Alaska Outfitter #1.....

KODIAK ISLAND BROWN BEAR HUNTS

Alaska Brown Bear hunts on the eastern shores of Kodiak Island. The island known world wide for its trophy potential.
This outfitter have currently moved into a new area offering brown bear hunts in some of Kodiak's remote and beautiful wilderness.

A  short 40 minutes flight  will put you in the heart of brown bear country. Miles of  jagged shoreline and alder cloaked hillsides will beckon you from the float plane.

Hunts take place from a heated-tent style base camp complete with home style meals and personal 1x1 guide service. Glassing throughout the day is the best way to locate these trophy bears in their habitat.  The extended daylight hours
and receding snowline of  spring make for fantastic trophy  brown bear hunting  conditions. During  fall hunts  the bears
move less and feed more. Heavily gorged on the salmon from the local streams the bears spend large parts of  the day sleeping on the hillsides.

Spring hunts are conducted in late April and early May, fall hunts start October 25th and run into mid November

Bears average around the 8.5 foot mark but can reach sizes well over 10 feet. Their fall hunter for 2007 secured himself
a 10’ 6” boar, with an estimated live weight of 1800 pounds!

Being a drawing hunt, ensures that limited numbers of hunters will be in the field, ensuring quality hunts and some high caliber bears! Be sure to prepare well in advance when planning a  Alaska brown bear hunt, since the drawings are held
six months before season  begins so hunters need to be prepared to enter the drawing well in advance. There is up to a
60 percent success rate on drawing tags for these hunts.

For spring hunts the drawing takes place in November. For the  fall hunts the drawing is held in April

The application process is simple and can be handled almost entirely by the outfitter. Please contact us for information
and details on the drawing process.

Hunters must fly  into Kodiak, Alaska where the outfitter will meet them and accompany  them into the field. Kodiak is serviced by Alaska Airlines and ERA Aviation with several flights daily.

Included in the price of  this hunt is the air charter  to and from camp, food, fuel, trophy prep, tents, cots and  full guide services. Hunters are responsible for  any overnight lodging in Kodiak due  to weather delays or  flight arrival/departure
times, hunting license ($85.00) and brown bear tag ($500.00) as well as personal gear and sleeping bag.

2007, Different bears spotted - 24+
$12,500.00
Duration of hunts run around 10 Days depending on weather and the hunter's individual schedule

TESTIMONIALS
"I was fortunate enough to draw a brown bear permit in the first year of applying in this outfitter's area.. The outfitter had high hopes that we would do really well.  As you can see from the pictures his and my hopes turned into reality and we
took this monster bear. I can't say enough positive things about this outfitter's ability as a guide as well as him being an overall great guy to spend time with on a hunt. If  you are looking to hunt big game in  Alaska  you will not do any better
then booking with this outfitter."  John Pomazi

"I just finished my Kodiak Brown Bear hunt with this guide/outfitter. The hunt was a Permit Hunt . I was very fortunate to
take a boar that went 10’- 0” with a 26 – 14/16”  skull.  The boar had a truly exceptional hide,  very thick and  chocolate
brown with zero rubs.

We spotted the boar courting a sow on the second day of a scheduled ten day hunt. Due to unfavorable wind direction,
our stalk ended at 500 yards with the pair topping a ridge looking over their shoulder at us. On Day 3, we hiked back to
the area that we thought the pair might be holding up. As sometimes luck goes, the pair came out of the brush at 1:30
pm and at  6pm after a the bears finished their nap and  we closed  in to 200  yards the boar took 2  shots from my 300
win mag (200 gr. Nosler Partition) No back-up needed from the outfitter's 416 Rigby!

We spotted the bear on our way back to camp the second day.  The weather was real bad on day 2 and improved late
in the afternoon. We stopped to glass the valley one last time and he was in an area that we had not been able to view
during the day. On day 3 we were leaving the small valley he was in and just by chance the guide and I split up by 500 yards or so. I stayed in this valley and an hour later they just popped out of the brush giving me the shot.

This was my third successful hunt  with this outfitter  in as many tries  (Grizzly bear in 2005,
Mountain Goat in  2006). Overall guiding experience, set-up, and equipment were outstanding

I also found the folks at the Kodiak – Alaska Game and Fish office to be very friendly and easy to work with to obtain
the locking tag /permit and check the bear in after the hunt.

I will be going back in for blacktail deer in November with this same outfitter. We are doing a  4 person hunt  with this
guide/outfitter.  I saw lots of deer and fox."    Joe Carter
