New Mexico Outfitter #1
This outfitter is offering New Mexico elk hunts on private land on three
premier ranches. The ranches are located in the Sacramento Mountains
of south-central New Mexico. We are offering archery and rifle elk hunts
on these three ranches.
These private-land elk hunts are high-success hunting experiences that
are possibly the best in all of New Mexico. Realize all private land, even
in New Mexico is not created equal when you start comparing with other private-land hunts!
Our outfitter has secured landowner permits for the Alan, Hondo, and the Gordon Ranch to offer the finest private-land, guaranteed-tag elk hunts in
the state.
Alan Ranch Elk Hunting
Archery and rifle elk hunts on almost 6,000 acres of private land in the edge of the Sacramento Mountains. The Alan
Ranch borders the famed Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation for over 7 miles. There is no finer free-ranging trophy
elk hunt in the country. It must be experienced to be believed.
No high fences or releasing of elk. Just a solid, fair-chase trophy, elk hunt. We do not guarantee anything in regards
to hunting, it is hunting, but with that said, based on past year's experiences, most all hunters get shot opportunities
at 300+ bulls.
A maximum of two hunters per hunt will be booked on this ranch. To provide the best opportunity to harvest mature
bulls, each hunter will be guided 1 on 1, exclusively.
The terrain consists of juniper, pinon pine, oak brush and grass covered hills
and mountains.
This country is rough, and much of it is densely forested with
pine and juniper trees which is one of the reasons why the elk like it.The terrain
also makes the ranch extremely challenging to hunt.
Access to the hunting areas will be with 4-wheel drive vehicles and atv's. After
that, the hunt will require you to cover the hunting grounds on foot to locate the
bulls.
T
he hunting licenses for all hunts on the Alan Ranch are guaranteed without you having to go through the draw. The hunt price includes a landowner permit, which
is a voucher that allows a hunter to purchase a $561 hunting license. Other than drawing a elk tag the landowner permit is the only way to obtain an elk license in New Mexico, residents and nonresidents alike.
All meals and field transportation will be provided. Airport service is available into
El Paso, TX or Albuquerque, NM.Y ou can either rent a vehicle and drive into the
lodge or charter a van from a local service to bring your group to and from the
airport.
Alan Ranch Archery Hunts
Archery hunts on the Alan Ranch are during the first three weeks of September.
No more than three hunters per week are booked.
The 2007 season was our outfitter'ss first season to conduct the archery hunts on
the Alan Ranch. The landowner has conducted most of the archery hunting during
past seasons while our outfitter had concentrated on the rifle hunting. Needless to
say, the 2007 archery season produced four bulls that scored over 320 inches out
of six hunters.
The primary hunting tactics for the archery hunts will be spot and stalk, waiting for
the elk near water and calling. The spot and stalk and calling techniques are used
more in the mornings when the bulls are active and bugling. The afternoon hunt is
usually spent watching water holes and wallows.
Lodging for the archery hunts are in a primitive cabin on the ranch. Nothing fancy,
just a good place to sleep and eat that is close to the action.

Alan Ranch Rifle Hunts
The rifle hunts are conducted from October through December. Rifle hunts will be a spot and stalk game, exclusively.
The bulls feed on the slopes of the canyons at night and during first and last light. Glassing extensively in the low-light hours to locate the bulls is the primary tactic. Once spotted it's a matter of closing ground to get within shooting range.
You can expect to see bulls every day of the hunt. In fact, it is normal to see more bulls during many hunts than cows.
The Alan Ranch has produced over 92% shot opportunities at 300+ bulls
for their rifle hunters over the last seven years! Actual harvest success on 300+ bulls has been over 80%! During the 2007 season their clients were 100% successful on 320+ bulls! You cannot find a better low-fence ranch
to hunt free-ranging elk. That's anywhere in North America period!!!
I
f you will show up in reasonable shape prepared to hunt hard on foot their guides will get you a legitimate shot at a 300-class or better bull. That's is
their promise, if you will hold off shooting one of the lesser bulls that many
find it difficult to do.
Accommodations for the rifle hunts are in the same primitive cabin on the ranch that the archery hunts use.

Hondo Ranch Elk Hunting
We are offering archery and rifle hunts for trophy bulls on the Hondo Ranch. The Hondo Ranch consists of 4,000
acres of valley meadows, pinon pine and juniper-covered hills. The ranch is located in the foothills of the Sacramento Mountains and borders the renowned Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation for 3 miles and no high fences. This is a
quality, fair-chase trophy elk hunt.
New for the 2007 season was the addition of winter wheat food plots planted in mid summer. Elk are exceptionally
fond of wheat and the addition of the food plots will only enhanced the numbers of elk on the ranch. Numerous other
habitat improvements, including increased water distribution, have already been implemented.
Access to the hunting areas will be with 4-wheel drive vehicles and ATV's. After that, the hunt will require you to cover
the hunting grounds on foot to locate the bulls.
To maximize your chances of harvesting a mature bull, each hunter will be guided 1 on 1. The great majority of hunts
are conducted with only one hunter on the ranch per hunt.
The hunting licenses for all hunts on the Hondo Ranch are guaranteed without having to go through the draw. The hunt
price includes a landowner permit, which is a voucher that allows you to purchase a $555 hunting license. Other than drawing a tag the landowner permit is the only way to obtain an elk license in New Mexico, residents and nonresidents alike.
Lodging will be provided in a cabin at the ranch during the hunts. All meals and field transportation will be provided.
Airport service is available into El Paso TX, Roswell NM or Albuquerque NM. You can either rent a vehicle and drive
to the lodge or charter a van from a local service to bring you to and from the airport.

Hondo Ranch Rifle Hunts
We will offer rifle hunts on the Hondo Ranch for the 2009 season. The hunts will be conducted from October through December.
The primary hunting tactic is spot and stalk, almost exclusively. The terrain has numerous openings in the timber
which makes for excellent glassing. Once a bull is located, the stalk is on. The October seasons sometimes offer
calling opportunities which will be pursued with vigor.
The outfitter expects to hunt for 300+ class bulls exclusively. This hunt will produce this opportunity with enough
patience and hard work. This ranch probably offers the best chance at a 350+ bull.

Gordon Ranch Elk Hunting
Our outfitter has secured the elk-hunting rights to approximately
10,000 acres of prime elk country in the Sacramento Mountains
of central New Mexico. The hunting terrain consists primarily of
large meadows and stands of pinon pine, and juniper. Water is strategically located throughout the ranch and contributes to the
quality of the habitat.

year on the Gordon Ranch. Only one hunter will be booked per hunt.
The 2009 season will be their fourth season to conduct the archery
hunts on the Gordon Ranch. Bulls were killed during each of the first three years by the second day of the hunt. Last year, the ranch was basically not hunted.
There are not nearly the numbers of elk on the Gordon Ranch as
there are on the Alan, and Hondo Ranches. However, by taking a extremely-limited numbers of hunters. The outfitter has been able
to get every hunter a a good bull each year. The ranch has not been
rifle-hunted in two years. It is at it's best during the archery season.
Access to the hunting areas will be with 4-wheel drive vehicles and ATV's, from there the hunt will require you to cover the hunting area
on foot to locate the bulls.
The primary hunting tactics for the archery hunts will be spot and stalk, waiting for the elk near water, and calling.

New Mexico Outfitter #2
This New Mexico elk hunt on private proeprty adjoins 5 miles of the famed, Jicarilla Apache Reservation, game management unit # 5a, renowned for it's fantastic, hunting opportunities. It is 8 miles West of Lindrith, New Mexico.
All of their elk hunts are licensed through the "Private Land Owner Tag System" so that there is no draw process to wait out. Simply stated, you sign up with this outfitter for a hunt this fall and you will be going hunting this fall.
This outfitter guarantees a reasonable shooting opportunity to every one of his clients, for whatever type of game they
are in pursuit of. If the client fails to have that opportunity that client will be refunded 1/3 of the hunt fee itself. How many outfitters do you come upon willing to back up that kind of commitment!?!
They vow to keep the number of hunters in camp as low as is necessary to maintain the type of quality hunt every
hunter wants to go home remembering. They can and will, tailor hunt dates to suit a hunter's needs if necessary.
They are capable of scheduling, any five day period for a hunter, from the beginning of September until the end of
March providing they don't precede any public hunt with the weapon used.
They also carry out numerous herd management, cow elk hunts for those not able to make a bull hunt, for whatever
reason. These hunts are great freezer packers as well as a great way to start a new hunter out (a little less of the
fever if you will).
Unit 5A
Transportation Mode and Hunting Methods
All hunting in unit 5a is carried out in 4-wheel drive vehicles.
New Mexico elk hunts in unit 5a can be a little out of the normal. For the
most part "spot and stalk" methods will be used while glassing the open
parks and sage brush flats. After morning hunts you take up stands near
water holes frequently used by the bulls. The reason for this tactic is that
the terrain in unit 5a consists of very thick cover such as, Bigelow Sage,
Rabbit Brush and Chamise, not to mention some very dense, stands of
Juniper and Pinion Pine trees. To push this type of heavy growth usually
will just push the elk out of the country.
Lodging, Meals and Guiding
All of their clients for these hunts will be lodged on site in a combination of a refurbished wood cabin and some RV's.
These are furnished by the outfitter. Their cabin is rustic and has a porch area that makes the whole trip worthwhile.
All meals will be prepared on-site and are fit for a king. Guides for these hunts will be a combination of local residents
and their staff; all very familiar with their surrounding country and elk.
Terrain and Elevation
Terrain in this Unit is pretty forgiving for the most part. The vegetation on this property consists mainly of dense Pinon
Pine, and Juniper type trees with some very thick under story growth. There are three major ridges and two major arroyo systems that cut through this property, which provide for some excellent cover for the resident game and provides as well some very enjoyable scenery. The average elevation on the Ranch is between 7000 and 8000 feet above Sea Level. The Ranch is located approximately seven miles west of Lindrith, New Mexico.

Carson National Forest - Unit 51 & 52
This rifle, muzzleloader and archery elk hunt takes place in
game unit 52 located in north central New Mexico. This unit
is a roadless, wilderness area that is 300,000 acres in size
and prohibits off road vehicles and off road traffic of any type.
The area has numerous open roads within the unit often two
to three miles apart, which allows the hunter to access the
areas to hunt by foot or horseback while still being remote.
This unit has an excellent elk population and the number of hunters is controlled, as opposed to most of Colorado’s
public land units. The odds of drawing a license are excellent, utilizing their outfitter's number. We offer two types of
hunts in this unit:
Carson National Forest Unit 51
Unit 51 is approximately 380,000 acres (594 square miles). This unit is not a roadless unit and the use of four wheelers is allowed on any designated road. The nearest town is Tres Piedres, NM at the northeast corner of the unit. This unit allows the use of ATV’s on all roads and for retrieval of your game.
Guided: These hunts include the use of their outfitter number on the application for drawing a license, an appropriate number of guides, accommodations, meals, transportation during the hunt, retrieval of game and trophy preparation of
the animal. The hunters are responsible for putting in for the license with the outfitter's help, his or hers personal gear, weapon, and transportation to and from camp.
Self-guided: These hunts are for those hunters that want a quality hunt, feel confident about hunting elk on their
own, and do not want a guide and the hassle of bringing a camp with them. The self-guided hunts include the use of
the outfitter's number on the application for drawing a license, a knowledgeable person in camp with maps of the area
to direct the hunters to good areas, accommodations, meals, retrieval of game, trophy preparation of the animal. The

and caping of the animal. The hunter is responsible for arriving in camp, personal gear, weapon, license and stamps, gratuities, and care for the animal after it arrives in camp.
